“Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium Standards”

 

The ISLLC Standards were developed Council of Chief State Officers along with the National Board on Educational Administration (NPBEA), which combined have made for strong leadership principles to use for educational growth. Many Educational Leadership programs use the ISLLC Standards within portfolios to exemplify what has been taught and learned.

Each of the 6 standards include:

Knowledge required to reach the standard

Dispositions manifested by accomplishing the standard

Performances to be observed by an administrator

 

Standard 1

A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.

Rationale: My reasoning for writing this paper was to effectively connect the students and parents to the school, a battle that seems to exist at all schools. With aspirations of becoming an administrator, the numerous views and feedback from six principals has been invaluable. Often inquiring about the difficulties of being principal, all four current principals have mentioned parent relations being an area of difficulty especially involving student behavior. Using current principals and schools, past principals, coworkers and parents as outside sources and references served as valuable collection agents for the research.

 

Reflection: The findings and results of this study will hopefully bring together a cohesiveness of parents, administration and ultimately the students, for an increase of positive behavior and achievement. When parents, their children and administration are on the same page education can be carried out in a productive manner.

Artifact 2: Prezi

This is a prezi presentation that I created which gives insight to improving school atmosphere.

 

Rationale: Information within the prezi gives an awareness of improving student behavior in the form of attendance, punctuality, and discipline and school violence. If these issues can be understood with confidence and action implemented to help solve the issues then real change would be seen.

 

Reflection: Humans like relationships that meet our need to belong, they also like contributing to a meaningful cause and having the opportunity to have control over their own lives. Because of these human traits that we know, administration is undeniably an art. Fortunately administration is an art that can still have order, direction, and vision and can lead a school in the right direction.
