ISLLC “Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium Standards”

Standard 6

A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by understanding, responding to, and influencing the larger political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context.

Artifact 1: Final Compendium Notebook, is a final compilation of important laws administrators should know about in the role they are in.

Rationale: The purpose of the State Board of Education is essentially to advise the commissioner in educational laws and policies. Interestingly, the State Board of Education, while receiving support from the Department of Education, are two separate entities. A state statute is a written legislative enactment that is governed by the country, state or county. The purpose of state statutes is to declare, prohibit or command a policy. In the state of Maine, the statutes are found at the Maine Department of Education website.

Reflection: This is one of the most important documents any administrator could review as their position depends on educated decisions bases on what he law says. I am proud of this document I put together and it will serve as a valuable piece of literature in any form of administration at any school.
